Lesson 1 - The
Necessity of a Renewed Mind
We are to be transformed by the renewing of our mind. However,
few of us really understand what that means. We receive a new
spirit when we are born again. We receive a new body in the
resurrection. In between, we have the same soul, the same mind
or thinking process that we had as a heathen. The process of
sanctification is the outworking of our salvation in our souls,
which requires the renewing of our minds. We cannot fulfill our
calling, our destiny without a renewed mind. Our natural mind
cannot understand the things of the spirit. This series of
lessons teaches us how to cooperate with the Holy Sprit in
renewing our minds.

Lesson 2 -
Dealing with our Thinking Processes
This lesson deals with the heathen mind's condition before
knowing Christ and its effect on our thinking processes. In the
new birth we receive a new spirit, but we still have the same
mind--the same thinking processes that we had as a heathen. The
result is that we operate with a carnal mind. The thinking
processes--the way we think--must be renewed in order for us to
develop a spiritual mind. The Kingdom of God comes into us and
begins the renewal process as it grows. There is immediate
conflict between the way we think and the Kingdom of God.

Lesson 3 -
Dealing with our Thinking Processes Part 2
The series continues with the condition of our minds as we
move from a heathen mind to a carnal mind (natural mind). We
must change how we think in order to correctly change what we
think. Examines Ephesians 4:17-19 in great detail to show the
contrast with our former way of thinking and living and the
renewing process.

Lesson 4 -
Destroying the Fortified Places
This lesson deals with the fortresses or strongholds in our
minds that resist the government of Jesus. The lesson deals
especially with "every lofty thing raised against the knowledge
of God". Nine "lofty things", fortresses, are discussed from II
Corinthians regarding their effect on our minds and their
resistance to the Lordship of Jesus.

Lesson 5 -
Events, Processes, and Procedures
Events trigger processes which are made up of multiple
procedures to produce a desired outcome. The event of salvation
triggers the process of change, which includes the renewing of
the mind, which is made up of the various procedures that move
us to the corporate mind of Christ. This lesson presents a
picture of the overall process of renewing the mind and the
expected outcome.

Lesson 6 - The
Lamp of the Soul
This lesson looks at the details of the process of
enlightening our understanding using the typology of the 7
branched lamp or candlestick of the Holy Place of the
Tabernacle. The details of how our understanding lights our
souls before we know Christ and how renewing the mind changes
the light of our understanding after we know Christ. Details
are given of how the light of the kingdom of darkness in us is
replaced by the light of the Holy Spirit.

Lesson 7 -
Thoughts, Intents, & Action
This lesson looks at the thoughts and intents of the heart and
the resulting actions. The Old Covenant dealt with our actions
but the New deals with the thoughts and intents (motives) of the
heart. Becoming like Jesus means that our motives have to
change. The first step in the process of change, which is
preparing us to fulfill our purpose and calling, is the renewing
of the mind.

Lesson 8 - Heart & Mind
This lesson takes a deeper look at the heart as the
interface between soul and spirit. The root problem for an
inability to renew the mind lies in the heart An unrenewed mind
has incorrect thought about God, about man, and about self.
This creates various mindsets and causes us to be unable to know
God properly.

Lesson 9 - Mindsets
This lesson completes the Renewing the Mind Series. It
focuses on the various mindsets that are described in the
Scriptures: carnal mindset, worldly mindset, haughty mindset,
traditional mindset, and childish mindset. Our mindset must be
changed for us to progress to spiritual maturity.
